Day 28: July 11 (last day of week 4): Browning, MT to Babb, MT to St. Mary, MT: about 48 miles:

This is where things get interesting, I get to guess as to their progress.

Their route took them from Browning to Babb to get to a post office where I could ship a rim, tire and tube (it was all together) for Chris. His bandaid fix on his splitting rim has held so far but it can go at any time. This is approximately 40 miles. They have to be back in Babb on Wednesday for a rim and tubes Hostell in Stevens Point, WI shipped to them. This rim is a true replacement for Chris' bad one. Then the rim I shipped will be a spare or replacement for TJ's, if his repaired rim fails.

In the mean time they said they were heading to St. Mary's. This is about 8 1/2 miles from Babb, BUT at the opening of Glacier National Park!!! They wanted to spend about 3 days at GNP so they might as well wait for the other box while enjoying some of the park. There are free shuttles to take them part way in at different areas (I've heard). Going-to-the-Sun Road at Logans Pass is what they truly want to bike. This is 50 miles of incredable scenery. Amazingly, it is still not open all the way through due to SNOW!!! This is th 2nd latest opening in it's 78 yr. history!! The good news is, if what I read is true.....it is due to open this coming Wednesday.

I did say they SAID they were heading for GNP. Roger called this afternoon to let me know they were in Babb and got the box, and their plan was...... and that is the last I heard from them. I don't know if they got a hotel room, or are camping or where they are right now. This is that area I referred to back a couple of days ago; where the cell service is iffy at best. So either they will post or I will post when I know more. In the mean time, if you want to see some of what they may see check out this link to GNP http://www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/goingtothesunroad.htm. There are some really amazing pictures of the snow and the snow removal (earth movers) equipment. Have fun, I did!!!
